Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.
Text: 1 Chron. 4:9-10.
“9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name [a]Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.“NKJV
Destiny is a divine script written before your birth. That script is loaded and full of purpose & glory. Destiny is what God has ordained to use to impart the World. Destiny is the reason why you exist on the Earth. We do not choose destiny, it is God’s Sovereign choice. Prayerlessness is one of the main reasons why destiny is delayed or even unfulfilled. Destiny responds to prayers.
From our above text, Jabez must have examined his life and resolved that things cannot continue like this, I must arise and cry unto God for my destiny! Every man is born with a God-given destiny. In God’s destiny, Jabez was not supposed to be a failure, neither as God predestined any of His children to be a failure in life. Many people’s lives are a gross contradiction of what God has destined for their lives. Some are in the wrong vocation, location or relationship. Heb. 12:1 – let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
Prayer is the means of calling upon Heaven to help us in awakening our destiny. Reject the status quo and cry unto the Lord for a destiny recovery. God is a restorer of lost opportunities, times, virtues and destiny. Joel 2:25
The Lord Jesus from birth faced great persecutions and attack, the enemy spotted His star (destiny) and went on a destruction mission. Everyone’s destiny will come under attack, thus, we all need to be prepared for warfare to fulfill destiny. Destiny is not an aspiration but God’s purpose. So much is attached to our lives, many people’s destiny depend on us. Paul was a man of destiny; he was initially on the wrong side of destiny until he had an encounter with the Lord on his way to Damascus. Destiny is divinely designed. Jeremiah was a man of destiny. Jer. 1:4-5.

In closing, it is time to call upon the Lord for mercy so that our destinies will not be wasted. He has promised to hearken whenever we call upon Him. This is the season to seek the Lord. “If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.” 2 Chron. 7:14-15. Also Zeph. 3:17-19.
God Bless You!
