The Expression of My Gratitude.

The Expression of My Gratitude.

Ministering: Senior Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Psalms 30:1-5.

1 I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

We are here as our monthly custom to give thanks to The Lord for all He has been to us. Psalm 105:2 says – Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! God has not allowed our foes to rejoice over us. Many from depression committed suicide but The Lord has been strengthening us despite the arrows of discouragement from the enemy. He has been sustaining and helping us night and day. His Grace and Power has been our shield all through. Psalm 3:5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

Why do we always come back to say Thank You to The LORD?

Benefits of a Life-Style of Thanksgiving

  1. From 1 Sam. 1:24-28, Hannah came back to give thanks for God’s Faithfulness.
  2. The story of the 10 lepers (Luke 17:11-19) also tells us the benefits of always giving thanks to The LORD; the only leper that came back to give thanks was made whole (as against just being healed).
  3. God expects us to always return to thank Him for everything He does in our lives. He always perfects whatever we thank Him for.
  4. Ingratitude will ground and cut you off from your source. Rom. 1:21-24 talks of the dangers of not giving thanks to God.
  5. Going back to God in thanksgiving keeps us connected to Him continually. Regardless of your state, there is so much to still thank God for.
  6. Ingratitude will take The Glory of God away and could even attract a curse upon your life – Mal. 2:1-2
  7. When we praise God, He grants us access into His Presence and everything He has. Ps. 100:4
  8. Thanksgiving filters away impurities (sickness, etc.) from your life. Prov. 27:21
  9. Thanksgiving changes us from Glory to Glory – 2 Cor. 3:18
  10. Thanksgiving boosts your relationship with God. Praise affords you His Presence. He inhabits in the Praise of His People. Exod. 14:19-20
  11. God comes to dwell in anyone who cultivates a life-style of Praise. Rev. 21:3
  12. Praise makes you an overcomer – Acts 16:25-26

God Bless You!
