Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.
Text: Matthew 11:7-12.
“7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” KJV.
God is a God of all Possibilities. Anything can happen in His presence. It does not take Him Eternity to do that which is Eternal. He can do anything, anytime, and anywhere. Though He can do anything, it is only the violent that can take whatever He is doing by force. Though John was the greatest of all the Prophets in the Old Testament, Jesus said the least in the Kingdom is greater than John The Baptist. Since the days of John The Baptist, the Kingdom of God suffereth violence and only the violent takes it by force.
Life is full of storms, battles and challenges. You are in this world to fight a war, especially the war of fulfilling your destiny. Job 5:6-7. The Christian call is not a calling to laziness or complacency but an enlistment into God’s army to manifest His Kingdom everywhere on Earth. What will be will not be except we rise up in holy aggression to take it by force. Continually we are in a war, a spiritual warfare not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12.
God being aware we will always be confronted with battles, charged us in Ephesians 6:10 to be strong in Him and the power of His Might, and to put on His whole Armor. Realize you are always at war and your survival hinges on your prayer life. There is opportunity to end every war going on in our lives if we rise to the challenge. Hannah took delivery of Samuel on the Altar of spiritual violence.
Why We Need to be Violent
- Fulfillment of God’s purpose will demand a holy violence. Nothing comes cheap, your destiny is at stake – fight for your destiny. Isaac in Genesis 26:16-23
- There are demonic opposition fighting against our progress. 1 Tim. 1:18
- Possessing your Inheritance will demand a fight; Satan is not a gentleman. Joshua 1:6
- Violence is needed to destroy all the works of darkness around you. Demons are naturally stubborn, so a resistance is paramount. John 10:10
- Violence is needed to break free from all the yokes & bondages in your life. Isaiah 10:27
Many of our struggles are not ordinary, they have spiritual undertone and thus, can only be overcome spiritually. Yes, God is God of All-possibilities, but we have our part to play to experience His mighty power in our situation. We need to regularly ponder and inquire, why have certain mountains refused to move? Sometimes, our battles are because of the nature of our destiny. These battles are to help build and strengthen our spiritual muscles and develop Christ-like character in us.
Our Weapons for Taking it by Force
- The Word of God is our principal weapon to defeat darkness. Hebrews 4:12
- Prayer and Fasting. Jacob separated himself in Gen. 32:24
- The Blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:11
- The Name of Jesus. Phil. 2:11
- Faith & Boldness. Joshua 1:7-9
- Praise & Worship – this is the first Weapon to use. 2 Chron. 20:22. Acts 16:25
- The Weapon of Spiritual Giving. 2 Kings 3:26-27
In conclusion, victory is not for the passive but for those that rise in holy violence against the enemy. Finally, My brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His Might. Put on the whole Armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
God Bless You!
