Ministering: Annual Choir Week.
Text: Exodus 33:18-19.
” 18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.”
Exodus 34:6 – And Passed Yahweh before him and proclaimed Yahweh, Yahweh God, Merciful, and Gracious, slow to anger and abounding in Goodness and Truth.
Every Creature has a certain environment in which they are at their best. A Fish flourishes in Water, Birds in the Air, and Man on Land. Just as Satan thrives in a murmuring environment so God thrives in an atmosphere of Gratitude & Praise. God’s Presence can be activated anywhere through Praise. He inhabits the Praises of His People. Ps. 22:3. The Goodness of Yahweh is the main substance of Our Worship of Him. In Exodus 34:6, Goodness is one of the 5 attributes God used to eulogize Himself. To fancy a God without Goodness, is to fancy a horrible being. The reason for the existence of anything is The Goodness of God. Were it not for His Goodness, our lot would have been the same with the damned fallen angels.
God’s Goodness is from Himself, not anything outside Him. Thou art Good, and doest Good; teach Me Thy Statutes (Ps. 119:68). The Earth is full of The Goodness of The Lord. Ps. 33:5. As light is the splendor of the Sun, so Goodness is the Splendor of God. The notion of Goodness is inseparable from the notion of a God. His Goodness is the motivating factor for all His Works. All His Acts are an outflow of His Goodness. Yahweh stands in need of nothing. He is no gainer even from our Worship. God is Glorious in Himself with or without any Creature. That He accepts our Worship is owing to His Goodness. That He grants audience to our Prayers is owing to His Goodness.
God is not obligated to do anything; for before anything came into being, He has been Self-Sufficient. He depends on none, all depend on Him for their sustenance. His Goodness is the reason for His Mercy towards us. It is His Goodness that makes His Power act for Us. God is an Ocean of Good. Goodness is indissolubly linked with His Being. We might as well not reckon Him as God if we would not reckon Him as Good. O Taste and See that The Lord is Good (Ps. 34:8). The Throne of Grace in Greek language means The Throne of Gratitude. Oh that men would praise The Lord for His Goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Ps. 107:8. It is because of His Goodness that His Word or Message is called The Good News (The Gospel). There is none good above Him, or besides Him, or beyond Him. Beyond Him there is nothing to be sought or aimed at.
In closing, Ps. 145:7-9 says, They shall utter the memory of Your Great Goodness, And shall sing of Your Righteousness. The Lord is Gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is Good to all, and His tender Mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, And Your saints shall bless You.
As the Sea owes nothing to the River but the River owes all to the Sea, so God owes nothing to Us but We owe all to The Most High!
God Bless You!
