Ministering: Pastor Yemi Adekunle.
Text: Matt. 7:22-27.
” 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell: and great was the fall of it.“
God does not send money to anyone, He sends His Word through people. We are here to celebrate God’s Grace upon our Pastor today. When a man is sick physically he is advised to go to the doctor, in the case of spiritual sickness, God’s Word is the only solution.
Psalm 119:9-10 – How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! The Word of God is universal but applicable to individual situations. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 lets us understand that The Word of God is for our correction and profiting.
God will always tell you what to do to change your situation. Matt. 22:35-37 makes us understand that God does not want to share your heart with anybody – be it your spouse, career, money, etc. God is always after your heart. Satan’s priority is always your heart. Nobody can guard your heart for you, it is your responsibility.
The state of our heart is the measure of our love for God. 1 Cor. 13 enjoins us to cultivate the love of God in our hearts. Your love for God is your greatest asset in life. Rom. 8:28 says all things work together for them that love Him. 1 Cor. 2:9 also says eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, neither has it entered into the heart of any man the things God has prepared for those who love Him.
Loving God is not an emotional thing, but a thing of the heart. 1 John 5:3 says – For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. Lovers of God are high flyers in life.
John 14:21 – He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them. He, it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.
1 Timothy 5:17 – Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in The Word and doctrine. A shepherd is very important because an attack on the shepherd will be to the ruin of the sheep. We have to continue to cover our Pastors in Prayers and intercessions. In John 10, The Lord said He is The Good Shepherd, this means there are bad shepherds or hireling. When you submit to a Shepherd, you will not want in life. As you believe in God and in His Prophets, you will prosper in life.
We should always honor our Pastors because they will one day give an account to God for our souls. We should strive to make their job easy. Heb. 13:17 – Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Honoring our Pastors is not restricted to giving them gifts but also extends to lifting them up in Prayers continually before God.
Good Shepherds pay a very heavy price for the sheep. Our Pastors pray for us night and day, protecting and covering us spiritually. We need Shepherds because God knows we do not know our left from our right. A Pastor as a shepherd is an overseer of souls of men. It is a high calling with great sacrifice.
God Bless You!
