Text: Psalm 48.
” 1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. 2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. 3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge. 4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. 5 They saw it, and so they marveled; they were troubled, and hasted away. 6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. 7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. 8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. 9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. 10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness. 11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. 12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. 13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.“ KJV
God is worthy to be praised. We all have being through many waters this year, and against all odds, God has seen us through them all. According to Psalm 100, We are His people, and the Sheep of His pasture.
God is too great, He is powerful beyond description. He does incredible things no mortal can fathom. His greatness is peerless – He is all by Himself, none is before Him nor above Him. This great God can make a way where there seems to be no way. No enemy can withstand His might. Blessed are all that have Him as their God.
As a child of God, there is a fForce and pillar behind your life. This is why we are forever indebted to giving Him praise like the Heavenly Hosts do day and night in Revelation 4:8-11. He spared us for His pleasure. Not for Him, the enemy would have had their imaginations materialized over our lives and family. We worship this Awesome God for His Majesty that is beyond description. He is Lord, mighty are His miracles, we stand in Awe of His Holy name!
God cannot be compared with any gods. They are lifeless having eyes but can’t see, ears but can’t ear, they are as doomed as all that worship them. But our God has eyes and can see even the invisible, He has ears and can hear even the inaudible, He has Mighty hands that can deliver like no other. His food is praise from us, His children. He seeks those who will worship Him in Spirit and Truth.
Isaiah saw His Glory and it exposed the wretchedness of man. God is so great in all ramifications. He is not only Great in Wisdom, but also in Power. How God can be attentive to over 8 billion people, no creature can tell. He knows everyone of us not only by name but even the number of our hairs. Who can fathom the Incredibleness of this God!
Psalm 2, tells us that God laughs at all our enemies are doing because He turns them for our good. He is always fighting our battles – many of which we are not even aware of. David eulogized Him for His Omnipresence and Omniscience in Psalm 139. Unlike other beings, God has no origin, He is His Own origin – He is uncreated and unmade, this is why He is called “I AM THAT I AM”. He becomes anything we need – whether Wisdom, Righteousness, Love, etc.
God alone is unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His incredible thoughts, lovingkindness and faithfulness have never changed over us His children. Malachi 3:6.
Psalm 48 enjoins us to recognize, reflect and praise Him for the Majesty of His Greatness. Daily we should acknowledge all He is doing and keep reaffirming our faith in Him. He has never failed any who puts their trust in Him.
In conclusion, Exodus 15:11 praises Him – Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like Thee, Glorious in Holiness, Fearful in Praises, doing Wonders?
God bless you!
