” 12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” KJV.
A Mother’s role is so crucial in any house or society. Their worth is inestimable. Many of us wouldn’t have turned out right not for our mother’s sacrificial investment of time, prayers, discipline, resources, etc. In most cases the mother’s invest more time in their children’s upbringing. God enjoined us to honor our father and mother so that our days may be long. Even when others have given up over a child, mothers never give up; they stand tall to ensure a child comes out right.
Today is day set aside to appreciate and honor Our mothers for all their tireless investment in our lives. Being a mother is being in partnership with God. Motherhood is a divine assignment that only ends at death. Even after the children have grown to adulthood, great mothers still continue to intercede for their children. Motherhood is a high calling that has neither off-days nor retirement date. The quality of motherhood determines the health and wellbeing of any nation. Carelessness in this assignment leads to all manners of societal ills.
Mothers are the first people kids bond with. They nurtured, nourished and trained us. May the Lord continue to empower and encourage our mothers. Prov. 31, is a great example of the influence of a mother of a child. The Passage was essentially how Solomon’s mother admonished Solomon in the way of the Lord. Lois, Timothy’s mother (2 Tim. 1:5) is another example of a great mother who left a great legacy (Timothy). Herodias (Herod’s wife) is an example of a bad influence a mother can have on a child.
Mothers have sharp discernment as they see ahead. Their words have a very strong impact over their children, this is why they are advised to decree blessings continually over their children. God is still looking for more mothers like Hannah and Mary who will partner with Him in raising more mighty arrows like Samuel, and Jesus.
Mother’s bring out the best from their children. Mary knew her Son (Jesus) had the capacity to perform miracles, hence advised they do whatsoever He asks. Many our generation praise God your diligence in raising your children in the way of the Lord.
God Bless You!
