Text: Jeremiah 52:4-11.
” 4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about. 5 So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. 6 And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city so that there was no bread for the people of the land. 7 Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain. 8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him. 9 Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him. 10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. 11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.“
Most of the sieges people go through are due to family or generational issues, the Good News is that the siege is over now in Jesus’ Name. In our above Text, Israel sinned and God set a siege upon them. The Word from The Lord to us this morning is a Word of Hope & Liberation. Before any glory can be manifested, the siege must be over. Only negative things manifest in any life or nation under a siege.
Haggai 2:7-9 – and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says The Lord of Hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says The Lord of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place, I will give peace,’ says The Lord of Hosts.”
What we see after any siege is over is Glory. Not all that go to war come back alive, many end as casualties. But in Christ Jesus, Isaiah 51:11 says – “Therefore the redeemed of The Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.”
A Siege is a military operation in which enemy forces surround a city cutting out essential supplies with the aim of compelling them to surrender. It is also a barrier to bringing a person to slavery. A sickness is a form of siege, dryness is a siege, etc. A Siege makes a person less than what God created them to be. When the siege is over, hopelessness turn to miracles, famine turns to abundance, and darkness turns to light.
A Siege is not only external but also internal. Many may look well-dressed but could be going through a terrible internal siege. Many are troubled over situations beyond their powers, but the Good News is God says “the siege is over”. Fear is a natural consequence of a siege on a person or city. 2 Chron. 20 makes us understand Jehoshaphat was afraid when 3 nations came against his city. Pain and suffering are also resultant effects of a siege.
At the root of every siege is Satan using the instrument of sin. He is busy bringing accusations against the children of God like he did against Joshua the High Priest (Zech. 3:1-10). God can use seemingly insignificant things to lift any siege. He can even use lepers to lift a siege over a city.
Lessons from 2 Kings 7: 1-20:
- Our Totality is in The Hands of God.
- It is not over until God is over.
- The Lord has an Enduring Word for your life.
- Understand His promises are Ye and Amen.
God Bless You!
