Total Victory!

Total Victory!

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Joshua 10:5-15.

Then the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon—joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it. The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.” So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men. The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.” After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites. 12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on[a] its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel! 15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

The above text is an account of how God fought and handed total victory to His People – Israel. They were going to The Promise Land and many enemies rose to prevent them. It was on the verge of entering their Promise Land that God spoke the above to Joshua. It is the will of God that we walk in total victory. Total Victory over all the battles of life and any encroachment of the enemy. God desires His people to live an overcoming life. 1 John 4:4 – Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world, and this our victory, even our faith. God wants to destroy every work and craftiness of the devil, for the thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy, but He has come to give us Life and Life more abundantly. 1 John 3:8 –

“…. for this purpose The Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the Devil.”

As a believer in Christ Jesus, any battle you are facing is not yours, but The Lord’s. Our God is The Only One with the solution to any problem. Child of God, there is nothing confronting you that the solution is not in The Hands of God. Even if God has to break protocol to hand over victory, He will do it; He did not allow the Sun to go down just to give victory to His Children.

Many battles we face in life did not originate from us but most times from the generations before us. But in Christ Jesus, God fights and hands us total victory.

What can we do? Then spake Joshua to The Lord. We need to speak to The Lord in Prayer for His interventions like Joshua did in v12 – Then Joshua spoke to The Lord in the day when The Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies.

Prerequisites of Living a Life of Victory

1. Your Identity in Christ must be Sure. 1 John 4:4

2. Keep your faith in Him. A dogged faith like the 3 Hebrew Boys in the fiery furnace. Daniel 3, 1 Cor. 10:13, Heb.10:23

3.Total Obedience to God. Recognize that He is in charge and let Him lead You. Deut. 28:1,7

4. Delight in The Word of God. Joshua 1:8

In Conclusion, Romans 8:34-37 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
