TRUE LOVE.

TRUE LOVE.

Ministering: Daniel Adetokunbo (Youths Sunday).

Text: Romans 8:38-39 (NIV).

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.NIV.

Romans 5:8 ‘But God demonstrates His Own Love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’’

Good morning! Today, I want to remind you of something that is central to our faith and crucial to our very existence:

GOD LOVES YOU!  In the beginning we were in a perfect world where there was no sin and we had direct access to God, that was up until Eve and Adam ate the fruit. After Adam ate the fruit sin and death entered the world and we were therefore separated from God. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”

Isaiah 59:2. But in-spite of the eating of the forbidden fruit God never stopped loving us. In fact, through His great love, mercy, and grace He promised us a Savior someone who would come and deliver us from sin. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God gave His only Son, knowing the pain He would endure, to ensure that you and I would never be separated from Him again. In 1 John 4:10, it says, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” The cross is where God’s love was most clearly revealed, showing that He was willing to go to any length to be with us, to redeem us, and to bring us back into a relationship with Him.

God’s Love is ever-present: In Romans 8:38-39, Apostle Paul wrote about the depth and breadth of God’s love. He says that nothing in all creation can separate us from it. This is a powerful statement! Neither life nor death, neither the highest highs nor the lowest lows, can separate you from God’s love. Maybe today you feel distant, discouraged, or overwhelmed. You might wonder if God still loves you, especially if you’ve made mistakes, or if you’re facing hardships that feel unbearable. But let me tell you this: God’s love never changes. It’s not dependent on your circumstances, nor on your feelings. It’s anchored in Who He is—a loving, gracious, and faithful Father.

God’s love is not based on your perfection but on His perfect love for you. He knows your struggles, your doubts, your fears, and still, He calls you His beloved. You are never too far gone for His love to reach you. He loves you—not the perfect version of you, but the real you, with all your quirks, your flaws, your dreams, and your scars. Jesus came to this world not just for the righteous or the strong, but for you and for me, in all our brokenness. Does not matter if you’re a sinner He still loves you not for the sin but for you. God’s love was not a general statement—it was a love that reached out and embraced you in your unique journey.

God’s Love transforms: When you experience God’s love, it doesn’t just stay with you; it transforms you. It changes the way you see yourself, the world, and others. It’s a love that heals the brokenhearted, comforts the lonely, and gives hope to the weary. When we understand how much God loves us, we can begin to love others with that same radical love. In 1 John 4:19, it says, “We love because He first loved us.” His love empowers us to live differently—to love without limits, to forgive freely, to serve selflessly. It’s the kind of love that lifts us up and draws us closer to the heart of God.

God’s love is not just a warm, sentimental feeling; it’s an intentional, sacrificial love that provides us with the greatest gift—Eternal Life. In the context of John 3:36, we see that God’s love for humanity is so deep and so rich that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to make eternal life possible for us. Jesus is the way to life, and by believing in Him, we are invited into a relationship with God that doesn’t end with death—it extends into eternity. The verse speaks about eternal life, but it also warns of rejection. This may seem harsh, but in the broader context, it is a plea from God to choose life. God’s love is not controlling or forceful. He doesn’t want anyone to perish, but He gives us the freedom to choose.

God’s love is so great that He lets us decide whether or not we will receive the life He offers through Jesus. Rejecting Jesus, in a sense, is rejecting God’s love. The wrath mentioned in this verse is not about a vengeful punishment; it is the consequence of turning away from the only path to life—the path that was paved by God’s love through Jesus. God’s love is shown in the provision of His Son, and Jesus is the ultimate expression of God’s love, given so that we might live, now and forever.

This is what makes God’s love so unique and powerful: It’s not just about feeling loved; it’s about being given a way back to Him, even when we were lost in sin and deserving of separation. His love moves us toward eternal life, but we must receive it. And in doing so, we are forever embraced by His love, the kind that never lets us go. God loves us enough to offer us a choice, and the choice to believe in His Son and live is the greatest expression of His Love for us.

Do you feel that sense of invitation in God’s love today? It’s a love that offers grace, freedom, and eternal life—if only we accept it.

 God Bless You!
