Text: 2 Chronicles 20.
“O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your Name, saying, ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’ And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them— here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
2020 has indeed been a unique Year for many; as we step into the 2nd half, let’s realize the journey of life is filled with lots of mountains and valleys. The Year 2020 has been a Year for Confusion all over the nations of the earth (due to the Corona Virus). Our thoughts and dealings with each other have been affected. The Pandemic has indeed become an obstacle, but the joy is that we serve a God Who is above all Obstacles.
What do you do when you do not know what to do? This was the case in our above Text – 3 nations coming against God’s Covenant People. Fear gripped the King but thank God he turned to The Lord in Prayer and Praise to The God of Their Fathers. Rather than focusing on the problem, he inspired the people to switched gear from the problem to Eulogizing The God of Their Fathers. This is a pattern for us, never to focus on the problem but on God. It appears no nation has any mighty against this Pandemic – Only The Eternal God has The Might against it. Our Eyes should be on our God. Whatever may be attacking any aspect of your life, set your gaze on The Lord Who said, I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.
Child of God realizes God has not left you alone to confront any challenge before you, rather He would make His Strength perfect in your weakness. Cor. 12:8-9 – “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me”. Even Our Lord in The Garden of Gethsemane had His Own share of a seemingly challenging situation (drying for humanity).
Realize like Jehoshaphat, that this battle is not yours but The Lord’s. Psalm 149:6-9. When we switch on the weapon of Praise we invariably turn the battle to The Lord. Make every Day in July a Day of Praise unto God. When problems and issues see Praise coming they flee, for no mountain or sea can stand in the face of Praise. Psalm 114:1-6. The Antidote of God to win battles of Life is Praise.
What Happened When They Switched to Praise?
1. The Lord fought for them.
2. They went with bounties and spoils of the enemy.
3. They went with Joy – Isa. 51:11
4. The nations around them began to fear them because of God in their midst.
5. The Lord gave Jehoshaphat and the people REST.
As you begin to Praise His Glorious Names – He begins to reveal and manifest Himself as Your God.
God Bless You!
