Text: 2 Cor. 4:7, 2 Tim. 2:20-21, Lk. 22:6-7.
2Cor. 4:7: “7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”
2Tim. 2:20-21: “20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”
Luke 22:6-7: 6 So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude. 7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.”NKJV
When Christ was on Earth, He was a vessel dispensing God everywhere. Today, He has appointed us as His vessels to dispense His life to the world. The four gospels are summaries of how He dispensed God everywhere. Acts and the epistles are summaries of how believers in the early Church dispensed Christ everywhere.
As believers, we are vessels to contain & dispense Christ to the world. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. The human body is a vssel for God to act through. God needs a body He can wear so He can reach men. We are not God but we are the humans God puts Himself into so He can be God through us without us having to be God to do it.
Man’s greatest need every hour is the life of God. We are always short of this life, hence need constant refilling. His life should be what we are serving to our world. The world is sick and His life in us is the medicine for its healing.
We were redeemed as vessels to dispense His life everywhere. God’s life in us is the antidote that cures the death that is in every human. Your marriage, business, vocation, career, ministry is to be a dispenser of God’s life to others. We are God’s body on the earth. We are redeemed as His vessels so He can re-live His life through us.
The 10 Virgins & Their Vessels (Matt. 25:1-13)
- All the 10 had oil in their lamps, only the wise had oil in their vessels. The 10 were a metaphor for all believers.
- The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord (Prov. 20:27), so they had oil in their lamp, so they had the Holy Spirit in their spirit
- The vessels means the soul, so the 5 wise denied self so their soul denied self. The foolish ones never bothered to make Christ King in their souls, hence no oil in their Souls. 2 Cor. 4:10-12
He is the King. All creatures are His subjects. He is independent. All creatures are dependent upon Him for all things. He is the One worshiped. We all are His worshipers.
In closing, “but in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor sanctified and useful for The Master, prepared for every good work.
God Bless You, Richly!
