Mother’s Day.

Text: 1 Samuel 1-12.
“1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the mountains of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. 2 And he had two wives: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 3 This man went up from his city yearly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. Also the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there. 4 And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. 5 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb. 6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. 7 So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.” NKJV
Mothers are the true Heroes of our World, none of us could be here without them. The Love of a Mother is like The Divine Love which never fades. Mothers are God’s channels through which We entered this World. Mothers are Portals or Gates because they carry a womb. It takes great strength to be a Mother because many times your labors may go unappreciated but realize there is a God Who sees. Mothers are co-partners with God in raising godly seeds on the Earth. Many times, while the Men are sleeping, our mothers are awake interceding and fending for everyone’s welfare. May The Heavens honor all your efforts with great rewards.
Mothers are the greatest investors as they invest not just money but their entire life to ensure their children fulfill Destiny. Mothers work round the clock, yet without pay! Even while they are sleeping, they still have us in mind, they are there in season and out of season.
Why are we celebrating mothers – We are celebrating all the trouble you went through and yet you still succeeded. We celebrate your fatigue, frustrations and mid-night discomforts. We celebrate all your care and overwhelming situations you went through.
Our Encouragement to Mothers
- Please don’t give up on us. We might not see, but God sees. Gal. 6:9
- Never stop doing your best even if no one gives you recognition.
- Be strong enough to stand alone, especially in prayers (like Hanah did despite the mockery).
- Make sure you are not discouraged when things appear not to be working. Joshua 1:9
- Know that even if we don’t verbalize our appreciation, we truly appreciate all your labor.
- Know that we are praying for you.
Advice to Mothers
- Put God first in all that you do – Matt. 6:33
- Don’t compare your children with other people’s children – every child has a unique destiny from God. Jer. 29:11
- Continue to speak life over your children. Avoid evil utterances because our words shape destinies. Prov. 18:21
- Take care of yourself (mentally, financially, health-wise, Spiritually etc.). 1 Tim. 4:16
- Keep praying, never stop interceding, don’t give up. Gal. 6:9
In closing, Isaiah 49:15, Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Psalm 128:2 – For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Isaiah 66:13 – As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
