Text: Isaiah 60:1-3.
“1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” NKJV
A Father is an ambassador of Christ, called to represent God before his household. Fathers are a rare gift, they very special in God executing His plan on the Earth. No one can be a father if God did not make them one. It is the Lord that builds a house, else they labor in vain that build it. As a father, never forget you are, what you are by the grace of God.
Fatherhood comes with great responsibilities, please don’t disappoint God. Your headship of that family is not for fun nor in vain, please arise and take responsibility. Your family is like the garden of Eden (Gen. 2:15) and God’s mandate is that you keep it and dress it. You are like Adam to protect, preserve and ensure the fruitfulness of that family, remember it is God’s garden!
Luke 8:40-56 shows how Jarius (a Father) cared for the total well-being of his family. He came to Jesus because of his sick daughter. He was looking for solution for his household. Though Jarius was a ruler, he humbled himself by coming to Jesus for help. As a father, You must carry the burdens of your family to Jesus in prayers.
Your priesthood must be in active service, remember it is when men sleep that the enemy comes to sow tares. The most privileged child in the World is the one who has his or her parents interceding for them. You are like God’s policeman to ensure darkness has no footage in your family. As a father, don’t be overly concerned with knowing people, just know God and the high and mighty will want to know you. Our world often rates “men” using many parameters, but God rating is different.
How God rates Men
- A man is great in God’s sight when he is humble and cherishes God’s word. Isaiah 66:2
- Men that practice God’s word and teach their family to live it. Matt. 5:19
- Men that know God (not just church attendees) and keep striving to growing in Him – 1 John 2:13
- Men who are faithful to their wives (and generous in forgiving). Malachi 2:15
- Men who are good examples to their children. 1 Cor. 11:1, Eph. 6:4
The most underprivileged children are those who grow up in ungodly family settings (prayerlessness, carnalities). Don’t just give your children quality education, also ensure they know God and walk in His ways. Noah, Abraham, Job and many of the Patriarch always prayed for their children. Always prophesy and declare God’s word over children, speak words of life over them, don’t curse them, because God’s word says they are for signs and wonders in the land of the living. Isaiah 8:17-18
In closing, remember nothing is beyond God’s power, He can change anybody at any time. Luke 1:37 says with God nothing shall be impossible. God can do anything, believe Him for solutions and breakthrough; what He cannot do does not exist. Never give up on your wife or children, the hearts of kings are in God’s hand, bring every challenge to Jesus like Jarius and Jesus will give you a pleasant surprise. Never forget, fathers are supposed to be an accurate representation of God before their fFamily, please don’t fail God!
God Bless You, Richly!
Happy Father’s Day!
