Text: Romans 1:16.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.NKJV

What is The Gospel? The Gospel is the greatest good news from God to man. It is all about Jesus Christ. He is God’s promised plan fulfilled in history.

What is the Why of The Gospel? It is because sinful people cannot save themselves, thus God proved His love by saving us. John 3:16.

What is the How of The Gospel? By grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is not about what I can do or what I have done but all about what Jesus has done for our eternal good.

It is a paradox that despite its power many believers are still afraid to talk about it to others. Why are we shy to talk about the determinant of every man’s eternity with God? To benefit from the gospel, you have to take yourself out of the equation and place Jesus there – it is no longer I but Christ Who lives in me. Our part is to believe in what Jesus has done and walk in the fullness of it by His spirit.

Common reasons why believers don’t share the good news – First, fear of people’s opinions. Second is fear of confrontation – what if I am asked a question I can’t answer?

Being “Unashamed” doesn’t mean you know everything. Third, fear of losing our reputation – criticism, protecting our image, etc. In the new birth, our reputation died on the Cross, only Christ’s reputation should be our reality today. It is no longer about what I can do but what He can do through me.

What does an Unashamed Life actually look like? It is choosing to represent Jesus instead of protecting our image – 2 Cor. 5:20. To some, it is the shame of not knowing enough, what if people challenge me with difficult questions?

1 Cor. 1:18 The gospel is the power of God unto salvation – why should we be afraid to proclaim the power of God to our World. Let the power of God be in your heart as the foundation of everything you do, say and think.

Your ability as a New Creation should not be in yourself but in God’s power domiciled in you. Realize that the power of Christ is made perfect in your weakness. Thus, when we are weak, we are actually strong in Him. Our job is to proclaim the gospel, and the power of God will show itself mightily unassisted. Your weakness (maybe stammering, etc.) does not weaken the power of the gospel. Paul had every reason to be ashamed (he had earlier prosecuted Christians) but he didn’t allow his past hinder his glorious future in Christ. Stop allowing fear to cover what Jesus intends to use to glorify Himself. Pray to God to fill you with the spirit of boldness

In closing, realize, it is not you that speak, but the spirit of your Father Who speaks in you -Matthew 10:20. The light Jesus placed in us was never meant to stay hidden. Matt. 5:14 says We are the light of the World and should thus allow it to shine in the World. Light is meant to illuminate every darkness not cohabitating with it. Jesus is the source of light – John 8:12. We don’t manufacture the light, We are simply reflecting the light of Jesus to our World.

Our greatest problem is sin, and Jesus already died for this on the Cross while we were yet sinners.

God Bless You, Richly!
