IGA 2026 Children’s Week
Text: Matthew 17:20.
“20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” NKJV
Who is El-Shaddai?
El- Shaddai is the All-Sufficient God, the God that is more than enough, the Almighty, the King of kings, the Alpha and Omega, the Most High – higher than the highest. When God reveals Himself as El Shaddai, He is declaring that He is the Rock of Ages that breaks every other rocks to pieces.
What is a Mountain?
It could be an obstacle, trial, issue, or invisible walls you can’t see but every time you try to move you can’t. To a child, a mountain would be something really scary or a very difficult problem – such as, bullying, health problems, or negative experiences in their family.
Jesus promises us that even small faith can move the biggest, stubborn mountain. God doesn’t give you a challenge He knows you won’t finish. James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy,whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Mountains help us to lean on God and building an unstoppable faith that lasts a lifetime.
Take the blind men healed by Jesus, for example, their mountain wasn’t just being unable to see; it was the loneliness of being left out. Yet, because they trusted Jesus’ voice even when they couldn’t see Him, their faith turned their darkest problem into their greatest victory. Mark 8:25. Our God, El Shaddai does not perform halfway miracles. He wouldn’t save the children of Israel from Egypt to leave you alone at the Red Sea and say that’s your battle to fight. If El Shaddai opened the first door of your escape, He will surely shatter the final wall of your limitation. He is moving on your behalf today to fully restore your situation and permanently flatten the absolute final mountain standing before you.
Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 faced a massive mountain of barrenness and emotional heartbreak. At her breaking point, she threw herself on the Altar at Shiloh, dropping her tiny, mustard-seed faith directly into The Hands of El Shaddai. The moment Hannah dropped her small spark of faith into the Hands of El Shaddai, the Almighty instantly overrode the biological laws of nature and shattered her long-standing mountain of barrenness. El Shaddai completely leveled her mountain of barrenness, turning her sorrow into a total turnaround that birthed Samuel, the greatest prophet in Israel. This explosive connection between a tiny seed of faith and an All-Sufficient God completely destroyed her roadblock of shame, proving that when you speak to your obstacles with God-given right, even the most stubborn mountain must crumble into flat ground.
How to get God to Move Your Mountains
- We must rely on God’s strength not human strength. Isa. 40:29-31
- Speak to the mountain – Mark 11:23
- Fasting and prayer – Matt. 17:21
- Be generous with forgiveness – Mark 11:25
In closing, keep your Mustard seed fed. Your confidence in God is a living engine, not a parked car. If you don’t fuel it daily through prayer and the word, it won’t have the horsepower to push through your mountains. We must put on the Armor of God continually. Lay your burdens down at the altar and stop trying to fix what only God can touch. Strip away the doubt, the old habits, and the negative voices telling you who you used to be. Step completely out of the way, because El Shaddai is ready to move your mountains the moment you let Him take the lead.
